On-Going Educational Programs

The projects listed below are funded through mostly grants and donations we are fiscal agents to.

The ONME Broadcast News Bureau enables collegiate level MCJ students to receive hands-on experience in broadcast news through the ONME Broadcast News Bureau internship program.   This eight-week broadcast journalism program is offered to students as an internship for class credit or for experience.  Students who complete the program receive stipends for completion of their media projects.

The ONME Citizen Journalism Network is a six-week program offered two times per year to give up to 30 participants per program a detailed instructional and hands-on course in responsible community journalism, for those who would eventually like to report on local information in their communities for ONME News or other local news programs.  Participants in this program receive hands-on experience with expert journalists and media professionals, as participants learn how to cover community stories in their neighborhoods on radio, TV and online.  Participants will have their feature stories showcased throughout the ONME Network, social media, and through other third-party media outlets.

The Game Changers Program—This program is a collaboration with Rise 2 It Productions and The ONME Network that gives young adults something to feel motivated about, something to speak about, and something to express using their voice and their personality.  This program focuses on community college students and/or members of the general public who wish to enhance their public persona and speaking skills using creative media projects.  Their final projects are showcased through The ONME Network and various other partnering media outlets.

O.N.M.E. Sounds is a 24/7 web radio channel that is a unique blend of culture in media arts, along with forward, community discussions, and related news and information for urban communities throughout California.   The channel features a diverse playlist curated by California-based DJs and hosts, ranging from independent artists to chart-topping up and coming local artists, alongside thought-provoking talk segments, interviews, and live events.

(Here are the key art-related shows among others not listed here.)

(ONME Presents) The Art of Play—This artistic sport expression docuseries showcases achieved athletes and teams from throughout California along with independent musicians, and creative cinematographers and directors, who come together as one art piece to produce 6 episodes per season.  The ONME Network collaborates with a creative art director, producer, and cinematographer to capture the most artistic movements and expressions of athletes and teams in action during several of their games and matches.  The expressive movements are intertwined with highlighted excerpts from interviews with that athlete and/or team members showcased, along with the background music of up-and-coming artists from throughout California.

These monthly documentaries are showcased throughout The ONME Network media outlets online and offline.

At least 12 local authors past and present are featured per year; distribution of the final audio production is through O.N.M.E. Sounds.

The Story Behind This Hat—This seasonal series features the rich stories of ordinary people from throughout California, as they express their life journeys while creatively decorating their hats from local business owner, by Dr. Vernice Nellon’s “Hats by Me.”   Each year, The ONME Network produces 6 episodes to feature the unique stories of the individuals participating.  The stories highlighted come from people who reside in veterans’ homes, assisted-living centers, and other private senior living centers.
